Trade.

Between Uganda and Eastern DRC, trade has been increasing progressively over the years. Overall, export statistics in Uganda-DRC depict a growing trend. Political instability in DRC continues to de-link the East from Kinshasa, creating an upsurge of demand for commodities along the Uganda DRC border. A review of goods traded between the two countries reveals that DRC is a big supplier to Uganda of several primary products. DRC was ranked as Uganda’s second-largest import source within the COMESA region after Kenya in 2016. Major products imported from DRC over the period 2012-2016 included iron steel, wood and wood articles, minerals, essential oils, coffee, maize grain, and vegetable or animal oils. these products are often used as inputs in industries in Uganda
