The Barclays Bank of Uganda partnered with the Netherlands Embassy-Kampala to organize a trade mission for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs under the Business Club to the Netherlands from the 4th to 13th November 2018. The bank has a Business Club composed of reputable clients who seek to self-sponsor themselves, find new opportunities and investment options within Uganda and beyond. The representatives of the Barclays Bank Business Club members engaged Strategic Advisory and Research Consulting Limited (SARC) to coordinate the organizing of a trade mission to the Netherlands. SARC in return subcontracted Business & Investment Africa (BIA) to manage the program in the Netherlands.
The key deliverables included; organizing an outbound trade mission to the Netherlands covering visits to agricultural and agribusiness farms and firms, markets; and identifying and booking suitable accommodation, air travel, ground transport, and hospitality services for the participants; designing a program for the mission, and compiling an end of mission report. Twenty-eight participants traveled and these were from different sectors, mainly: Dairy, poultry, piggery, horticulture, trade-in different merchandise (agricultural and non-agricultural), leisure (hotel), security systems, education, legal services, financial services, among others. The trade mission flagging off was held on 1st November 2018 at the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
