The Dutch Private Sector requires recent and updated information to effectively do business in Uganda and the East African community. Uganda’s agricultural statistical systems are not yet optimally developed, which creates information gaps that derail strategic decision – making by all sector stakeholders. To bridge this gap, The Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality commissioned agribusiness market scans, 2016 and 2022 resectively
Findings
The Study findings provide insights into the evolution and current state of agricultural policy trade regulations and standards, and standards, agronomic supplies and demand trends an analysis of opportunities and costraints for the different agricultural value chains..
Limitations
The second study of 2022 was conducted under strict SOPs, due to COVID-19 where some public and private sector institutions were operating at below minimum capacity. The available statistical data on some some value chains have gaps for the period 2020-2021 as the planned surveys were deferred by the mandated government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)
